C&C Ep. 2: Luca Avitabile, Bespoke Shirtmaker in Naples

Luca Avitabile is a third-generation bespoke shirtmaker in Naples, Italy. His grandmother founded the family firm in 1948, which grew over the years as his father joined the company and Luca himself as well. After learning formal pattern making and working for other makers, Luca relaunched the family firm some twelve years ago. Today Luca runs his family shirt company, just twenty years shy of a century old, with one eye on tradition and the other on the future. Luca is also closely involved in Le Mani di Napoli, an organization devoted to supporting Naples’ craft traditions. You can find more information about Luca Avitabile both bespoke and ready to wear at https://lucavitabile.it and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/lucaavitabile/?hl=en

We discuss his family history, what makes a great shirt, the incredible city of Naples, the future of craft in the Partenopean city, and what elegance is made of.

Sincere thanks to Luca Avitabile.
